Construction on The Cascades, Splash Country's $2.8 million leisure pool, is under way. The project represents the largest capital investment in Dollywood's Splash Country history. The water park opened in May 2001.
"The Cascades takes me back to my childhood when me and my brothers and sisters were lucky enough to discover a little mountain cove where we could cool off from the summertime heat," Dolly Parton said. "We'd keep that swimming hole a secret as long as we could, but I'm looking forward to sharing The Cascades with everybody."
The Cascades will feature a lagoon-style, 8,000-square-foot, beach-entry pool. Surrounded by trees and plants, the pool's centerpiece will be a waterfall that spills from a giant rock grotto. With 25 interactive elements, The Cascades will include four slides that weave throughout the grotto.
In addition, guests can experience 20-foot water sprays from a geyser situated on the pool's edge while a contoured seating area offers a respite from the activity. Younger guests can discover a series of small coves around the pool's perimeter filled with slides, misters and bubblers.
The Cascades will offer a 24,000-square-foot tiered deck space with chaise lounge chairs. Eight waterside retreats - cabana-style units - will be available for rent.
Dollywood's Splash Country is a 30-acre water park located adjacent to Dollywood.
